Our Body: The Universe Within

In August 2007, American Exhibitions, in association with The Universe Within Touring Company, LLC, entered into a partnership with the Florida Hospital Foundation of Orlando, Florida.  The Our Body: The Universe Within exhibition made a $10,000 donation to the Florida Hospital Foundation and offered to donate an additional $5 per ticket for all of the employees of the Florida Hospital Foundation who visited the Our Body: The Universe Within exhibition. The donations were directed to two key initiatives of the Foundation; namely, The Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement, one of the nation’s foremost surgical training facilities, and Florida Hospital’s Department of Translational Research, an internationally-known research lab specializing in cardiovascular and cancer research.

American Exhibitions also launched a multi-month joint effort in which Florida Hospital complemented Our Body: The Universe Within’s anatomical exhibition at the Orlando Science Center by participating in adding health and wellness educational content to the exhibition, including a medical imaging exhibition, “Through a Doctor's Eyes” and a joint-sponsored lecture series benefiting the central Florida community.

American Exhibitions has consistently recognized the need for children to receive medical treatment. Upon the opening of Our Body: The Universe Within at the Rochester Museum & Science Center in September of 2007, American Exhibitions made a $10,000 donation to the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong Medical Center in support of their Pediatric Treatment Center.

Each year, children make more than 7,000 trips to the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong’s Pediatric Treatment Center where they receive the medical treatments they need in their fight against cancer, blood disorders, bone marrow and immune deficiencies.

“We are honored to accept this generous donation to support our pediatric services,” said Dr. Nina Schor, Pediatrician-In-Chief of the Department of Pediatrics at Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong. “This contribution will be put to immediate use at the Children’s Hospital as we continue to bring top-notch medical care to our young patients in need every day.”
