Tampa, FL (May 24, 2012) – In honor of Memorial Day and in recognition of our troops, Mummies of the World Touring Company, LLC, producer of the groundbreaking Mummies of the World exhibition, and MOSI (Museum of Science & Industry) made a charitable donation of $10,000 in family four-packs of tickets to the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital during a special presentation at MOSI on Thursday, May 24, 2012.

Stacy Sidman (second from left), general manager for Mummies of the World Touring Company, was joined by Ralph Bosek (center), COO of MOSI, in presenting the tickets to Roy L. Hawkins, Jr. (second from right), deputy director of the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital, with two of the Hospital's veterans also onsite to share in the occasion.

Since 1972, the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital has been improving the health of the men and women who have so proudly served our nation. This hospital is the busiest of four polytrauma facilities in the nation, making services available to more than 116,000 veterans living in a four-county area of Florida. The $10,000 in family four-packs donated by Mummies of the World and MOSI will provide James A. Haley Veterans' patient families the opportunity to escape for an afternoon and experience the exhibition at their leisure.

Orlando Science Center
Orlando, Florida
November 2006 through October 2007

In August 2007, American Exhibitions, in association with The Universe Within Touring Company, LLC, entered into a partnership with the Florida Hospital Foundation of Orlando, Florida.  The Our Body: The Universe Within exhibition made a $10,000 donation to the Florida Hospital Foundation and offered to donate an additional $5 per ticket for all of the employees of the Florida Hospital Foundation who visited the Our Body: The Universe Within exhibition. The donations were directed to two key initiatives of the Foundation; namely, The Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement, one of the nation’s foremost surgical training facilities, and Florida Hospital’s Department of Translational Research, an internationally-known research lab specializing in cardiovascular and cancer research.

American Exhibitions also launched a multi-month joint effort in which Florida Hospital complemented Our Body: The Universe Within’s anatomical exhibition at the Orlando Science Center by participating in adding health and wellness educational content to the exhibition, including a medical imaging exhibition, “Through a Doctor's Eyes” and a joint-sponsored lecture series benefiting the central Florida community.

Our Body: The Universe Within
Rochester Museum of Science
Rochester, New York
September 2007 through January 2008

American Exhibitions has consistently recognized the need for children to receive medical treatment. Upon the opening of Our Body: The Universe Within at the Rochester Museum & Science Center in September of 2007, American Exhibitions made a $10,000 donation to the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong Medical Center in support of their Pediatric Treatment Center.

Each year, children make more than 7,000 trips to the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong’s Pediatric Treatment Center where they receive the medical treatments they need in their fight against cancer, blood disorders, bone marrow and immune deficiencies.

We are honored to accept this generous donation to support our pediatric services,” said Dr. Nina Schor, Pediatrician-In-Chief of the Department of Pediatrics at Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong. “This contribution will be put to immediate use at the Children’s Hospital as we continue to bring top-notch medical care to our young patients in need every day.”

We are so proud of our work with the Our Body: The Universe Within exhibition and are delighted to have this opportunity to bring this amazing exhibition to the Rochester community — a region highly regarded for its wealth of medical and scientific innovation,” said Marcus Corwin, CEO of American Exhibitions. “This gift is being made to the hospital for its outstanding level of personal care to young patients in the Rochester area.”
